Ability to facilitate students' individual and collaborative use of technologies (including but not limited to spreadsheets, web page development, digital video, the Internet, and email) to locate, collect, create, produce, communicate, and present information.
The first lesson I taught included collaborative group project where students had to create a glogster account and create multiple online posters that were representative of a personal narrative that they planned to compose in later weeks of an English course. This assignment, in order to meet expectations, required students to effectively navigate the internet and create/develop their own web page. The assignment also required them to incorporate digital images from the site and label their work according to a specific set of instructions. Students were also asked to communicate, as a type of prewriting activity for their narrative, the beginning, middle, and end of a story they were going to write in the future. See the specific instructions below:
I.Characters a. Who was involved in the story? b. Where and when did the story take place c. What was the problem they faced in the story? d. Was the problem solved? How did things end up? II.Formula of story a. Exposition (How will they set the stage for their story? b. Rising Action (How will the plot thicken in their story?) c. Climax (What is the turning point in their story?) d. Falling Action (What is the resolution of their story?) III.Each poster must include: a. An Official Title (Personal Narrative: Online Poster Assignment & Name) i. See my example here for more information b. All components from above lists ( I & II) c. Personalized custom Glog that includes at least 3 graphics from the glog library
In the other lesson that I taught, students were required to individually create a digital video that highlighted a class that they considered interesting, fun, or enlightening. This lesson required them to navigate their way through collecting images, presenting important information about said class, and piecing all of their ideas together online in order to submit a final piece. See the specific instructions for this assignment below:
I. Information on a class they are narrowing in on a. What class are they documenting? b. What makes this class special? c. What are they learning in this class? II. Each video must include: a. An Official Title (Animoto Assignment & Name) i. See my example above for more information b. All components from above list. c. Personalized custom animoto that includes at least 3 graphics from the animoto library.
